Description

These labels were created for SyllaSense Decodable Texts. The labels include the grapheme/phoneme correspondences (from their Scope and Sequence) which are introduced in each title. These were created to aid teachers in finding the decodable texts needed for students who may need extra practice aligned with the skills taught in a Tier 1 program.

To print, use 1-1/3″ x 4″ labels (Avery 5162, or similar from other brands) or colour print them on plain paper, and then use clear tape to laminate them to the book bag.

Curriculum Connection

B2. Language Foundations for Reading and Writing
This resource supports the teaching and learning of skills from Strand B Foundations of Language. These SyllaSense labels can be used to organize decodable book carts and assist teachers in finding decodable texts by skill sets (grapheme/phoneme correspondences) from their scope and sequence. This is especially helpful for both teachers and students who may require extra practice or support in those skills taught in their structured and explicit Tier 1 programming. These texts also include orthographic conventions, morphology, punctuation/text features, and high-frequency words.

    1. Hi Tara – Laurie (the creator of this resource) used Avery 5162 (1-1/3″ x 4″) but says that many brands carry that standard size. She has also colour printed them on plain paper, and then used clear tape to laminate them to the book bag – this means they last longer and don’t require labels at all.
