Welcome to Learning Through Literacy for Grade 9. The texts and associated lesson plans are starting points that we believe are reasonable for our current context in Ontario for students in grade 9.

You will need to gather informal and/or formal assessment data to determine the exact next steps students in your class will need to further push their thinking,
writing and reading skills!

There may be students and even whole classes without the prerequisite knowledge required to engage with the lessons included in this series, particularly when it comes to syntax. For educators and students to be able to fully engage with the lesson components presented in these lessons, some prerequisite background knowledge is necessary for both educators and students.
