National AccessAbility Week
Celebrate Inclusion with National AccessAbility Week! Invite Grade 3 students to explore National AccessAbility Week and learn how communities can be more welcoming for people with disabilities. This Releasing-Writers-inspired cycle uses a mentor text, vocabulary support, and exemplars to help students practise writing with the subordinating conjunction while and reflect on their own responsibility in creating inclusive spaces. Aligned with Social-Emotional Learning skills, students will consider how small actions can make a big difference in schools, parks, and communities. This unit is perfect to teach in May to coincide with National AccessAbility Week and bring real-world relevance to the classroom.
