If you have no experience with Releasing Writers/thinkSRSD, start at Step 1.

If you are familiar with Releasing Writers/thinkSRSD, but are new to Learning Through Literacy, start at Step 4.

Step 1

Step 2

Read the Overview of thinkSRSD document to become familiar with the fundamental thinkSRSD framework and guiding principles.

Step 3

Peruse the Getting Started with thinkSRSD document to see lesson-by-lesson steps to implement thinkSRSD in the classroom.

Step 4

Find the ONlit Grade 3 thinkSRSD-inspired Educator Guide on the Grade 3 page, or the ONlit Learning Through Literacy Junior Educator Guide on the Grade 4 page, grade 5 page or grade 6 page.

Step 5

Browse the Learning Through Literacy section of ONlit.org to find a unit that ties in with another curriculum area your students are or will be studying.

Step 6

Once you have selected a Learning Through Literacy unit, start with that unit’s Individual Educator Resource, found in the Structured Writing Cycle section on the unit landing page. For example, for the Grade 4 unit, Fireflies and Flowers, the Educator Resource is found on this page.
