Description

The Knowledge and Practice Standards define the knowledge and skills that all teachers of reading should possess to teach all students to read proficiently. These competencies can be used to guide professional development for educators.

The Knowledge and Practice Standards broadly support enhanced educator knowledge and capacity in structured literacy.

  1. There is no question, structured literacy is essential for any and all students at risk for reading difficulties for any reason. As stated in the article: « The majority of
    practitioners at all levels have not been prepared in sufficient depth to recognize the early signs of risk, to prevent reading problems, or to teach students with dyslexia and related learning difficulties successfully. »
    We have a moral imperative to support all students at risk! This article really drives this message home.
