Having taught English Language Learners in France (1998), Singapore (2000) and Mexico (2002-2005), I wish I’d known then what I know now about second language acquisition…and I wish podcasts had been a thing back then, too, to make this research and information more accessible to classroom teachers like me. I just loved this podcast episode with Dr. Elsa Cardenas-Hagan because it reassured me that my instructional practice for FSL learners requires the same, explicit, systematic instruction and focus on oral language skills that is necessary for ELL learners, too. This is an episode that is NOT to be skipped!
