A new Kindergarten curriculum is coming – and Team ONlit is here to help! Explore practical tools and ideas to help you navigate the transition.
With Ontario’s revised Kindergarten curriculum on the way, we know many educators are already looking for clarity, guidance, and practical tools. This page brings together the most popular supports ONlit has created for Kindergarten educators and students, including downloadable resources and webinar recordings. Our team of Ontario educators is hard at work planning additional resources and supports for Kindergarten educators designed to help you feel informed and confident as you get ready for implementation next year.
ONlit’s Kindergarten Drop-In Sessions run throughout the year for both English and French Immersion educators. Each session centres on a practical topic, with time built in for collaborative discussion and idea-sharing across classrooms and contexts. Topics include navigating play and explicit instruction within the flow of the day, supporting oral language development, and other areas educators tell us matter most. We invite you to join us for upcoming drop-ins, or explore the recordings from previous sessions whenever it works for you.
Embedded picture mnemonics make early phonics instruction feel playful and memorable. By weaving a meaningful image into the shape of the letter, such as a zipper forming z or a road forming r, children more easily connect the picture to the letter’s sound. Research shows that this playful approach supports faster, stronger learning of letter–sound correspondences. ONlit offers these mnemonics in English and French as print files with instructional cards, desk visuals, and home-practice materials, and as animated videos that pair each mnemonic with the letter and its formation pattern using a clear, explicit routine. French Immersion educators will also find a full set of print and video resources to support playful, evidence-based phonics instruction.
